Cabinets des lumières

Cabinets des lumières

Poetic and concertante windows

Les Cabinets des lumières are the curiosity cabinets of our century, whose interiors have yet to be imagined and whose exteriors hint at memories of nature and other dream images. Light columns with shelves that dress up festival stages, waiting for them to resound.

O Vilanella

O Vilanella

The Neapolitan villanelle, born in the 16th century, embodies the influence of folk music on learned music. It brought to Italian music a rhythmic richness and melodic purity that were to be found in the canzonette, the madrigal and later in opera. During the Renaissance, the boundaries between scholarly and popular music were blurred, creating dynamic exchanges between the court, the street and the church. Here, Acheron explores the folk roots of Italian Renaissance and Baroque music, from Naples to Venice, from Nola to Monteverdi.

C#2 extended

C#2 extended

C#2 extended is an immersive creation combining music, electronics and video. Composed by Pierre Slinckx for organetto and electronics, this project explores the world of childhood and fantasy through metallic sounds, strange music boxes and echoes of retro video games. On stage, Cindy Castillo and Pierre Slinckx move through a poetic, interactive set, enhanced by a live visual performance by Lise Bruyneel. A unique sensory experience, where sound and image meet in perfect harmony.

unRAVELed

unRAVELed

In unRAVELed, we discover Ravel as a child, growing up in his father's inventive world. The radar he observes seems to open the door to his imagination. Four musicians perform in a kaleidoscopic set, where projectors and machines transform instruments and objects into magical shadows. Mechanical sounds and the master's music intertwine, gradually revealing his creative world. After Berberio, Revue Blanche and Zonzo Compagnie return to Ravel, with arrangements by Frederik Neyrinck, set design by WIThWIT and direction by Benjamin Vandewalle.

Li R’vindje di l’Åbe

An immense oak intertwines its dazzling and tragic destiny with that of human beings. From Henri Simon's splendid diptych in Liège Walloon Li Mwért di l'Åbe and Li R'vindje di l'Åbe, Patrick Leterme draws a choral and symphonic score that brings together young and old, orchestra and choir, professionals and enthusiasts. This exceptional show in the regional language breathes new life into our heritage, singing of life, nature and our roots in our common land.

Génération classique

Génération classique

Our music schools are hives of intense and varied activity. It is very often within the conservatoires that the chamber-music groups are formed that we subsequently see on our stages. Supporting young musicians is at the heart of the mission of Les Festivals de Wallonie. Génération classique aims to highlight the most promising ensembles from the chamber-music classes of the music schools.

Les Tickets solidaires

Solidarity tickets

Because everyone should be able to satisfy their desire for music without calculating whether they can afford it or not, because access to a concert hall is not always easy, because we are not all equal before life’s difficulties, and because we are more than ever convinced that access to culture is a basic right, this summer we are setting up a system of solidarity tickets. Inspired by the ‘pending coffee’ system which appeared in Italy at the end of the Second World War, the solidarity ticket offers people in difficulty the opportunity of taking part in the concerts we organize with the help of your generosity and thanks to a donation system!

Alba Sessions

Discover the Alba Sessions. The videos presented in this original series have all been filmed at the Alba, the house of shared talents. Each one invites you to get inside the house and watch a short showcase of musicians associated with Les Festivals de Wallonie this year. In the living rooms of this remarkable landmark located in the heart of Charleroi, converted in home and workplace for the artists, these talents from Belgium and all over the world took part in this 'at home' recording with joyful enthusiasm.
