Whether they are referred to as magicians, witches or, more poetically, enchantresses, Medea, Armide and Circe were the muses of baroque composers. Many operas are based on their legends, developing expressive musical colours that combine ecstasy with sensual intoxication.
Characters tailor-made for mezzo-soprano Lucile Richardot and her alluring, generous tone and fiery temperament. The winner of several awards already, she is here accompanied by gifted keyboardist Jean-Luc Ho.
