In 1741 a Portuguese named António Pereira da Costa (ca 1697–1770) published his Concerti grossi in London. Although in the wake of Corelli, these works, unearthed by Ensemble Bonne Corde, often reveal an ‘Iberian’ colour of their own and embody the freshness of an exquisite ‘tropical baroque’!
