Dumesny was the first countertenor to gain fame in his lifetime. Sources agree that he was a cook when Lully discovered him in 1677. He stood out immediately thanks to his acting skills, the power of his voice and his ability to learn everything by ear (he couldn’t read music!). Reinoud Van Mechelen proposes to pay homage to this colourful character. He sings and conducts the 24 musicians of a nocte temporis in a programme that brings together the most beautiful arias and opera suites composed by Lully (excerpts from Isis, Persée, Armide, Acis et Galatée, etc.), but also Marin Marais, Charpentier, Desmarets, Gervais, Colasse and more.
