More information

From 1598 to 1606, John Dowland, the greatest British composer of the time, was a lutenist at the Court of Christian IV, King of Denmark. This is where Dowland composed his Lachrimae, a group of instrumental pavanes which ranked among the ‘hits’ of the century’s instruments, and where his most famous ‘Songs’ were heard. A repertoire at the heart of the recital by the American tenor, Zachary Wilder, accompanied by the master of the theorbo, Thomas Dunford.
