More information

It was after a key meeting with Voltaire that Grétry composed, in Paris in 1778, Le Jugement de Midas, a caustic opéra comique in which he evoked the row between the partisans of Italian opera and those who championed tragédy in music. Preceded by excerpts from his opera Pierre le Grand (1790) – an idealized vision of the young Tsar’s journeys through Europe – Grétry is currently the subject of a remarkable work of rehabilitation, carried out by the new baroque talents of the Conservatoires of Liège and Paris.

In collaboration with the Royal Conservatoire of Liège and the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de la Ville de Paris
